RING SIZE GUIDE
How to Measure Your Ring Size
- Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of string.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you wish to wear the ring on.
- Mark the point where the paper overlaps, then measure the length in millimetres — this is your circumference.
- Find your circumference in the table below. We recommend measuring at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest.
- Between sizes? Choose the larger size — gemstone rings are easier to resize down than up.

PROPERTIES OF BLACK ONYX — GEMSTONE PROPERTIES
Black Onyx is a smooth, jet-black variety of chalcedony — a microcrystalline quartz — that has been prized for jewellery and protective talismans since antiquity. Its deep, lustrous black surface makes it one of the most striking and versatile gemstones in fashion jewellery. Black onyx symbolises strength, protection, and inner power. It is thought to absorb and transform negative energy, helping the wearer to stay grounded and focused.
Is Black Onyx dyed or natural?
Most commercial black onyx is natural chalcedony that has been dye-treated and stabilised to achieve its deep, uniform black colour — this is a centuries-old practice and completely standard in the trade. Truly natural black onyx exists but is rarer. The treatment is permanent and stable.
What is Black Onyx used for spiritually?
Black onyx is considered a powerful protective stone in many traditions. It is thought to absorb negative energy, provide emotional stability during times of stress, and enhance personal willpower and decision-making.
How durable is Black Onyx?
Chalcedony/onyx rates approximately 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale. It is suitable for most jewellery types and handles daily wear reasonably well. Avoid hard knocks, which can chip the stone, and sharp chemicals that can affect the dye treatment.
How do I keep Black Onyx looking its best?
Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to restore shine. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners (they can worsen cracks in dyed stones) and harsh chemical cleaners. Store separately to avoid surface scratches from harder gemstones.
