RING SIZE GUIDE
How to Measure Your Ring Size
- Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of string.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you wish to wear the ring on.
- Mark the point where the paper overlaps, then measure the length in millimetres — this is your circumference.
- Find your circumference in the table below. We recommend measuring at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest.
- Between sizes? Choose the larger size — gemstone rings are easier to resize down than up.

PROPERTIES OF BLACK ONYX — GEMSTONE PROPERTIES
Black Tourmaline (Schorl) is one of the most powerful protective stones in the mineral kingdom. Its deep, opaque black surface carries a subtle metallic lustre, and it is the only common gemstone with piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties — it generates an electric charge when compressed or heated. Black tourmaline is associated with energetic protection, grounding, and the transmutation of negative energy into positive.
Why is Black Tourmaline considered so protective?
Black tourmaline's protective reputation stems from its electromagnetic properties (piezoelectricity) and its historical use as a talisman. In crystal healing, it is thought to create a 'shield' that deflects and transforms negative energies before they can enter the wearer's energy field.
How hard is Black Tourmaline?
Black tourmaline rates 7–7.5 on the Mohs scale. It is suitable for most jewellery types, though its crystal structure (prismatic with perfect cleavage) means it can cleave under sharp impact. Use protective settings for rings worn daily.
What is Black Tourmaline's connection to EMF protection?
Black tourmaline is among the most commonly cited crystals for EMF (electromagnetic field) mitigation. While scientific evidence for gemstone EMF protection is not established, many people choose to wear or place black tourmaline near electronics based on its piezoelectric properties and traditional lore.
How do I cleanse and care for Black Tourmaline?
Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Some people believe tourmaline should be periodically 'cleansed' energetically by placing it in sunlight for a short time or burying it briefly in soil. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners. Dry thoroughly before storing.
